Tea, cake and friendship raises money for charity at Four Seasons

Thanks to local community friendship group - ‘Friday Tea at Two’ – hundreds of pounds has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support when it hosted a coffee afternoonat Four Seasons Shopping Centre.

The group, which meets from 2pm until 5pm every Friday at Four Seasons’ The Hive, invites people to join them each week for a cuppa and a chat, giving Mansfield residents the opportunity to socialise.

Inspired to take part in the nationwide Macmillan Coffee Morning initiative, ‘Friday Tea at Two’ organised their own Macmillan CoffeeAfternooninstead, to help raise money for the cancer support charity.

Members of the group and Four Seasons donated a delicious array of homemade and shop-bought cakes which they served alongside tea and coffee to shoppers in exchange for a donation to the charity. The event raised an impressive £214 which was generously match-funded by Lloyds BankMansfield, meaning they donated a grand total of £428 to the charity.

Rebekah O’Neill, centre manager of Four Seasons, commented:“Friday Tea at Two is a lovely group which meets in The Hive every week. It’s amazing to see the power that the ritual of a brew and a slice of cake can have in bringing people together and doing great things!

“It was packed out with people on the day and they raised a fantastic amount for Macmillan as well as hopefully introducing some new faces to their friendship group. We are grateful to our shoppers who gave generously on the day as well as to Lloyds Bank Mansfield who helped them to donate such an impressive amount to the charity.”
