Four Seasons Shoppers honour heroism this Armistice Day

Hundreds of Mansfield shoppers paid their respects at the centre on Saturday when a two minute silence took place to commemorate this year’s Armistice Day.

The town gathered at 11am on Saturday 11 November in Four Seasons Centre Square to honour the heroism of all the service men and women who have given their lives to secure freedom for future generations. A bugler and standard bearer were also in attendance, adding to the day’s moving memorial display.

Rebekah O’Neill, Four Seasons Centre Manager, said: “Every year we honour this significant date, providing visitors a place in which they can come together as a community for reflection as well as offer their respect for our fallen soldiers. It was once again really inspiring to see so many people from across Mansfield united to remember this historic day. Thank you to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Mansfield Branch for organising this.”

The organisation was in the centre all week selling poppies to Four Seasons’ customers to help raise money for the Poppy Appeal, successfully raising more than £11,500. The charity helps those in need within the British Armed Forces, supporting members of the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, veterans and their families.

Joe Martin, chief fundraiser, said: “The two minute silence to commemorate Armistice Day has been taking place for over 20 years at Four Seasons and the ongoing show of support from the general public was awe-inspiring.”

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to Four Seasons for allowing us to host our commemorative display at the centre. Their ongoing support is invaluable.”
